It is a completely manufactured panic built on a fundamental misunderstanding of how industrial revolutions are financed.

Is the railroad faking its freight revenue? No. It is securing upstream supply in an era of extreme scarcity. Silicon chips and data center power grids are the steel rails of this decade. If you do not lock down the supply chain through equity-backed partnerships, you get locked out entirely.

The critics want us to believe that pure market competition means a dozen independent startups should magically sprout up, build multi-billion-dollar semiconductor foundries out of thin air, and buy compute at retail prices without financial backing from the entities that need their software to survive. That is not capitalism. That is a freshman economics textbook fantasy written by someone who has never had to secure a power purchase agreement for a fifty-megawatt server farm.

Let us look at the numbers that matter. The capital expenditures of the major cloud providers are currently tracking at historic highs. Every quarterly earnings call brings gasps from analysts looking at margin compression. They ask why these firms are spending so much money on concrete, copper, and silicon when software has historically been a high-margin, low-asset business.

The answer is simple: artificial intelligence is an infrastructure play masquerading as software. You cannot scale intelligence on thin air. You need electricity, cooling, and hardware. The reason these deals look circular is that the ecosystem is too small for traditional, arms-length market friction. There are four buyers and three suppliers. Of course they are doing business with each other. They are the only ones in the room.

Stop worrying about whether these companies are trading cash back and forth. They are. That is how massive industrial transitions are funded when traditional credit markets are too slow or too risk-averse to move at the speed of silicon innovation.

The question you should be asking is whether the end-user demand curve is steep enough to absorb the trillions of dollars being poured into the ground right now.

Enterprise software adoption is notoriously slow. Chief Information Officers are still trying to figure out how to migrate legacy databases from twenty-year-old servers, let alone deploy autonomous agent workflows across their accounting departments. The infrastructure is being built at lightspeed, while enterprise procurement cycles operate at the speed of glacial drift. That delta—that gap between what the hardware can do today and what corporate bureaucracies will pay for tomorrow—is where the real danger lies.

If you are an operator building in this space, ignore the noise about daisy chains and circular financing. That is theater for people who write about technology instead of building it. Focus entirely on unit economics and operational efficiency. The companies that survive the coming shakeout will not be the ones with the cleverest corporate structure or the cleanest PR strategy. They will be the ones that can squeeze more intelligence out of every single watt of electricity when the easy venture capital dries up and the music finally stops.

Don't look at the circular money flow. Look at the power bill.
